Amino acid (Chemistry)

In chemistry, an amino acid is any molecule that has both an amino group and a carboxyl group. Unless used specifically in a chemical sense, the term amino acid will generally refer to one of the building blocks of proteins, more specifically named proteinogenic amino acids.
