Chlorinated water is water that has been treated with some kind of chlorine disinfectant. The level of chlorine, the type of chlorine used, and the level of sanitation varies depending on the intended use of the water.

Swimming pool chlorine

Swimming pools often use a form of stabilized chlorine to maintain a constant level of disinfection. Trichlor is a popular choice.

Drinking water

Drinking water is often chlorinated with chloramine or hypochlorite.
