Ethylene glycol is an organic compound commonly used as an antifreeze. It is a two carbon molecule, each with an alcohol group. Accidental consumption of ethylene glycol based antifreeze is a common form of poisoning, so it is sometimes replaced with less harmful alternatives such as propylene glycol.

Ethylene glycol can be polymerized into polyethylene glycol.
