Fluorine is the ninth element in the periodic table. Its symbol is F. Pure fluorine is diatomic gas. Because fluorine is the most electronegative element, it has many uses in synthetic chemistry. It is responsible for the extreme non-reactivity of Teflon and the extreme stability of all known super acids.
