A newton is a unit of force defined as the force needed to accelerate one kilogram by one meter per second every second. A mass of one kilogram, being pushed with one newton of force, would be going 1 m/s after one second, and 2 m/s after 2 seconds. It was named in honor of Isaac Newton for his work in physics.
