Origin (Anatomy)

In anatomy, the origin of a muscle is the starting point of the muscle where it attaches to a bone, skin, or another muscle. The attachment point at the other side of the muscle is the insertion. When the muscle contracts, the origin will generally stay stationary while the insertion moves.
