Psoas minor muscle

The psoas minor muscle is a muscle of the abdomen that connects the mid back to the pelvis. It flexes the trunk to assist in motions such as walking or running.

Origin

The psoas minor originates from T12 (the twelfth and last of the thoracic vertebrae), L1 (the first of the lumbar vertebrae), and the intervertebral disc between them.

Insertion

The psoas minor inserts at the fascia over the psoas major muscle and the iliacus.

Innervation

The psoas minor is innervated by the anterior primary rami of L1.
