Ron Paul is a physician and politician, representing Texas in the House of Representatives as a Republican. He ran for president in 1988 as the candidate for the Libertarian Party and in 2008 as a candidate in the Republican primary. He has since announced his candidacy for the 2012 Republican presidential primary.
Paul's views are strictly constitutional. He works to reduce the size and scope of the federal government through reduced spending and taxes. He is firmly opposed to the Federal Reserve and sees a currency based on hard assets to be the best monetary policy.
