A violin (fiddle) is a stringed musical instrument played with a bow. The four strings of a violin having a standard tuning of G, D, A, E, making it the highest pitched string instrument in an orchestra. The term 'fiddle' is used depending on the context it is played in: in Irish and bluegrass music will usually use 'fiddle' where 'violin' is always used in an orchestra. The instrument is identical in both settings although it may be tuned differently.
