In biology, warm-blooded is a nonspecific term that refers to animals that actively maintain a warm body temperature the way mammals do. Scientists use the more specific terms endotherm, meaning an organism that elevates its body temperature with internally generated heat, and homeotherm, meaning an organism that maintains its body temperature at a near constant.
